Agua de Sandía – Mexican Watermelon Juice Drink
I really love making my own juice, it’s refreshing and simple although I find I am a bit hard pressed to feel comfortable calling something this easy a recipe, It is pretty much fool proof. I have already done Agua de Melón out of Cantaloupe and this is just a slight adjustment of that recipe to account for the blander flavour of Watermelon. If I had used the same levels of Sugar and Lemon/Lime as with Cantaloupe a lot of the Watermelon flavour would be lost in the mix.
- Recipe -
1/2 a Watermelon // 3 cups of Water // 1/3 of a cup of Piloncillo or Brown Sugar // 1/4 of a Lime or Lemon
- Use a large spoon to scrape, cut, chop or do what you like to get the flesh off of the rind.
- Put all of the Melon except the rind (including the seeds!) into a blender and add 2 cups of Water to the mix.
- Blend the Melon thoroughly so the seeds are completely broken up, blend in the Piloncillo or Brown Sugar and the half lime/lemon.
- Strain the mix, add more Water if needed, add lots of Ice and then serve chilled.
Enjoy!
