Agua de Melón – Mexican Melon Juice Drink
This is a short one, nice and easy and very refreshing! I would like to pretend I am making this at a tropical beach front, relaxing in the sun and heat. But instead I am in England, even worse I am in Walsall! on a mild spring day, oh well, I can dream of tropical beaches…
The recipe can be adapted to use almost any fruit you like, so play around with the Fruits you use and the amounts of Sugar/Water will change obviously depending on the sweetness/tartness of the fruit in question.
- Recipe -
1 Canteloupe Melon // 2-4 cups of Water // 1/2 a cup of Piloncillo or Brown Sugar // Juice of one Lemon
- Cut the Melon in half, scrape, cut, chop or do what you like to get the flesh off of the rind.
- Put all of the Melon except the rind (including the seeds!) into a blender and add 2 cups of Water to the mix.
- Blend the Melon thoroughly so the seeds are completely broken up, blend in the Piloncillo or Brown Sugar and the Lemon Juice.
- Strain the mix, add more Water if needed, add lots of Ice and then serve chilled.
Enjoy!
